The research focused on comparing the learning outcomes of an experimental group using this method with a control group employing traditional teaching methods. Methods: A quasi-experimental design was used, involving pre- and post-tests to assess the learning levels of students in various dimensions of descriptive statistics, including collection, tabulation, processing, presentation, and analysis. The sample consisted of second-cycle students from the faculty, divided into experimental and control groups. Results: The results revealed significant improvements in the experimental group, with 67% of students achieving an excellent learning level, compared to 73% of the control group reaching only a regular level. A t-value of 17.09 confirmed the statistical significance of the difference in performance. The experimental group demonstrated enhanced proficiency in data collection, processing, presentation, and analysis, particularly in the presentation dimension, where scores increased from 1.87 to 3.68 points. Conclusion: The findings indicate that the research project method significantly enhances the learning of descriptive statistics, fostering critical analytical skills essential for academic and professional success. The study suggests the method’s potential for broader application across disciplines and educational contexts, recommending further research on its long-term effectiveness and its impact on student motivation and self-efficacy.
Carmela Elisa Salvador Rosado, Luis Manuel Vargas Vásquez, Jesús Antonio Salvador Rosado, Rosana La Torre Bocanegra, Freddy Manuel Camacho Delgado Copyright (c) 2024 Carmela Elisa Salvador Rosado, Luis Manuel Vargas Vásquez, Jesús Antonio Salvador Rosado, Rosana La Torre Bocanegra, Freddy Manuel Camacho Delgado https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-nc-nd/4.0 https://journals.sapienzaeditorial.com/index.php/SIJIS/article/view/677 Wed, 18 Dec 2024 00:00:00 -0300 Implementing effective sociocultural integration strategies to decrease university student dropout rates https://journals.sapienzaeditorial.com/index.php/SIJIS/article/view/832
This article analyzes the determinants of student dropout in an intercultural university in Peru during the period 2018-2023. Using a quantitative approach and a non-experimental design, binary logistic regression was applied to test the hypotheses. The results show that sociocultural factors have a significant impact on dropout, increasing the probability of dropout when sociocultural difficulties increase. Likewise, personality factors are also relevant, indicating that students with greater personality difficulties could receive additional support or have effective coping mechanisms, slightly reducing the probability of dropping out. In contrast, socioeconomic and academic factors did not show a significant relationship with student dropout. The Hosmer-Lemeshow test and Nagelkerke's R-squared suggest a good fit of the model, explaining a considerable part of the variability in attrition. It is recommended that universities develop support strategies focused on socio-cultural integration and personal development of students, in addition to continuing to investigate other educational contexts to evaluate the influence of socioeconomic and academic factors.
Evelin Dianela Asenjo Muro, Ofelia Carol Cernaqué Miranda, Franz Robinson Ventura Lucana, Wilder Quispe Curo, Victor Hugo Puican Rodriguez Copyright (c) 2024 Evelin Dianela Asenjo Muro, Ofelia Carol Cernaqué Miranda, Franz Robinson Ventura Lucana, Wilder Quispe Curo, Victor Hugo Puican Rodriguez https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-nc-nd/4.0 https://journals.sapienzaeditorial.com/index.php/SIJIS/article/view/832 Fri, 20 Dec 2024 00:00:00 -0300 Language policy in Turkmenistan: foreign languages learning and the role of sociocultural aspects https://journals.sapienzaeditorial.com/index.php/SIJIS/article/view/821
In the context of globalization, language policy in Turkmenistan increasingly prioritizes foreign language proficiency to meet growing demands for specialists skilled in international communication. The aim of the research is to investigate the reform of the legal system in the context of Ukraine's integration into the EU in the face of hybrid threats and to search for legal mechanisms to counter such hybrid threats. The author used descriptive, comparative (comparative legal), and legal act analysis methods. Special attention was paid to special methods of scientific research, in particular, the method of interpreting legal norms. As a result of the study, the author concluded that Ukraine has made significant progress in aligning its legal system with European standards, but there is still much work to be done in this direction. The author formulated recommendations for developing mechanisms to counter hybrid threats, both at the level of Ukraine and at the pan-European level. In particular, it was proposed to develop a single pan-European strategy to combat hybrid threats at the EU level. The implementation of the proposed recommendations, in particular, will lead to the integration.
Yurii Kryvytskyi, Liudmyla Kuznetsova, Veronika Chekalіuk , Iryna Maidaniuk , Anton Khriapynskyi Copyright (c) 2024 Yurii Kryvytskyi, Liudmyla Kuznetsova, Veronika Chekalіuk , Iryna Maidaniuk , Anton Khriapynskyi https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-nc-nd/4.0 https://journals.sapienzaeditorial.com/index.php/SIJIS/article/view/879 Fri, 20 Dec 2024 00:00:00 -0300 Alcoholic beverages consumption in students: prevalence and incidence of sociocultural factors https://journals.sapienzaeditorial.com/index.php/SIJIS/article/view/841
Adolescent alcohol consumption is a global phenomenon of increasing concern due to its detrimental effects on the physical, psychological, and social well-being of young individuals. Adolescence, a critical stage in human development, is characterized by emotional, social, and physical changes that heighten vulnerability to external influences, including social and familial pressures. The present study aimed to analyze the relationship between alcohol consumption and sociocultural factors among fourth- and fifth-grade high school students from an educational institution in Puno, Peru. The research adopted a quantitative approach with a non-experimental design and a descriptive scope. The findings revealed no statistically significant association between alcohol consumption and the four sociocultural factors—family, school, cultural, and social (p > 0.05). Additionally, the effect sizes, as measured by Cramer’s V coefficient, were below 0.300, indicating very weak to weak levels of association. In conclusion, no statistically significant relationship was observed within the specific context studied between alcohol consumption and the aforementioned sociocultural factors. The study recommends that future research explore additional variables, such as psychological, economic, or individual factors, which might influence alcohol consumption. Furthermore, it suggests employing more robust research designs or larger samples to deepen the analysis of sociocultural factors and better understand this complex issue.
Dante Elmer Hancco-Monrroy, Denices Soledad Abarca-Fernandez, Vicky Cristina Gonzales-Alcos, Vidal Avelino Quispe-Zapana, Marisol Yana-Salluca Copyright (c) 2024 Dante Elmer Hancco-Monrroy, Denices Soledad Abarca-Fernandez, Vicky Cristina Gonzales-Alcos, Vidal Avelino Quispe-Zapana, Marisol Yana-Salluca https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-nc-nd/4.0 https://journals.sapienzaeditorial.com/index.php/SIJIS/article/view/841 Fri, 29 Nov 2024 00:00:00 -0300 Corruption and emigration from the Western Balkans: evidence from a dynamic system GMM model (2012-2022) https://journals.sapienzaeditorial.com/index.php/SIJIS/article/view/801
According to neoclassical models, migration takes place when there is a strong probability that individuals will recoup their human capital investments. As a result, workers typically move from low-income to high-income areas and the larger the expected income gap between areas, the higher the number of migrants. In countries where corruption is endemic, jobs are often secured through political connections and bribes. This will lead to a higher unemployment level as well as to a lower return to human capital. Consequently, a significant proportion of the population considers emigration as the only path to succeed. The present study is focused on the impact of corruption on emigration from six Western Balkan countries. A System Generalized Method of Moments is estimated to analyze migrant stocks in 28 receiving countries during the period from 2012 to 2022. We suggest that corruption can directly influence migration stocks in receiving countries.
Visar Malaj, Emi Malaj Copyright (c) 2024 Visar Malaj, Emi Malaj https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-nc-nd/4.0 https://journals.sapienzaeditorial.com/index.php/SIJIS/article/view/801 Fri, 18 Oct 2024 00:00:00 -0300 Administrative law mechanisms for preventing and countering corruption in the field of territorial defence https://journals.sapienzaeditorial.com/index.php/SIJIS/article/view/859
Background: The relevance of using legal corruption prevention mechanisms is a strategic issue for ensuring national security and the effectiveness of military management. In-situ measurements of pollutants, specifically carbon monoxide (CO) and particulate matter (PM2.5 and PM10), were conducted monthly across three parking lots at the university. Each parking lot contained three strategically established monitoring points, where measurements were taken during peak entry and exit hours and on days of highest traffic, using the Temtop M2000C-2º sensor. Results: The findings revealed significant statistical differences in pollutant concentrations among the parking lots. CO levels were notably higher in the main parking lot during midday, while PM2.5 and PM10 exhibited greater dispersion in the rear parking lot. The maximum measured values were 456.71 ppm (CO) in the main parking lot, 22.29 µg/m³ (PM2.5) in the Produteq lot, and 32.54 µg/m³ (PM10) in the rear parking lot, all of which remain within the permissible limits established by Ecuadorian legislation. Conclusion: Although air pollution levels at UTEQ are classified as moderate, the results underscore the necessity for implementing short-term mitigation measures to enhance air quality. It is recommended that university authorities develop projects and actions aimed at reducing vehicular emissions and improving overall environmental conditions on campus.
Carmen Alexandra Sinchi-Rivas, Carlos Alberto Nieto-Cañarte, Mayra Carolina Vélez-Ruiz, Manuel Gregorio Jiménez-Icaza, Mercedes Carolina Muñoz-Mendoza Copyright (c) 2024 Carmen Alexandra Sinchi-Rivas, Carlos Alberto Nieto-Cañarte, Mayra Carolina Vélez-Ruiz, Manuel Gregorio Jiménez-Icaza, Mercedes Carolina Muñoz-Mendoza https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-nc-nd/4.0 https://journals.sapienzaeditorial.com/index.php/SIJIS/article/view/835 Wed, 23 Oct 2024 00:00:00 -0300
