  • The text adheres to the stylistic and bibliographic requirements outlined in the Author Guidelines.
  • The authors recognize that Openness is a core value of scientific practice. Therefore, they undertake to present a contribution that addresses the open science three key points as much as possible: Open Data; Open Materials; Preregistration. https://osf.io/tvyxz/wiki/home/

Author Guidelines

Update, June, 2024.

In addition to the guidelines already established for authors, compliance with the following points is strictly required:

  1. Empirical Original Articles: Include at least 20 scientific articles in the references. Of these, 60% must be in English. Additionally, 70% of the cited literature must come from journals indexed in the Scopus database. The remaining references can be from other publications such as scientific journals, conferences, or documents indexed in SciELO, Web of Science, DOAJ, EBSCO, or Latindex Catálogo 2.0.

Example: If 25 references are used, 15 must be in English, and 19 must be indexed in Scopus. The remaining 6 references can be from the other mentioned databases.

Editorial Guideline for Literature Reviews: from now on, the total number of literature reviews per issue is limited to 20% (i.e., 5 literature reviews published per issue). These reviews must be systematic or integrative, employ scientometric techniques/empirical trend analysis, and focus on recent literature (from 2015 onwards). The minimum number of references for systematic or integrative reviews remains 30, with 80% indexed in Scopus.

  2. Translated Articles: If the article has been translated from its original language, authors must provide a certificate of technical translation from a specialized translator.

  3. Author Affiliation:  Every author must have an institutional affiliation that validates their research activities (institutional email and ORCID).

  4. Word Limit: Articles must not exceed 8,500 words, including references.

  5. Title, Abstract, and Keywords: Must be presented in ENGLISH, accompanied by versions in Portuguese and Spanish.

  6. Author and document information: Submission of the information document of the article and authors is mandatory for every article submitted.

  7. Submission Platform: Articles must be submitted using the journal's OJS platform to ensure proper tracking throughout the submission cycle.

The purpose of these requirements is to enhance our editorial quality, ensuring the journal continues to be a high-impact publication platform. Failure to comply with these requirements may result in rejection during the Desk Review stage.

Update, January 2023.

  1. Language: The main language of publication is English. Original articles in Spanish and Portuguese will no longer be accepted for review. If needed, authors may email editor@sapienzaeditorial.com to request information about our technical translation agreements with ESTS Research.
  2. General structure: We recommend using the IMRyD/IMRAD model, following the logical organizational structure: introduction, materials and methods, results, discussion, and final considerations/conclusions.

Section

Expected/suggested content

introduction

The introduction should briefly place the study in a broad context and highlight its importance. It should define the purpose of the work and its epistemological significance. It should carefully review the current state of the field of research and cite the most relevant publications. The author should state the main hypotheses emphasizing the most controversial/critical ones. As far as possible, keep the introduction understandable to scientists and/or readers outside your particular field of research. On the other hand, we strongly recommend developing a contextualization of the problem from local/regional and international literature, always looking for the most recent published evidence (last 5 years).

materials and methods

Methodological procedures are the research techniques, as well as the materials and methods used to implement the proposed objectives. Quantitative, qualitative, documentary, exploratory and field research are examples of research techniques/methodologies that may be addressed in this section; i.e., it will depend on the nature and procedures of the research. Materials and methods should be described in sufficient detail so that others can reproduce and build upon the published results. Note that publication of your manuscript implies that you must make available to readers all materials, data, computer code, and protocols associated with the publication. Communicate at the submission stage any restrictions on the availability of materials or information. Interventional or experimental studies involving animals or humans, and other studies requiring ethical approval, should indicate the approving authority and the corresponding code of ethical approval.

results

This section can be divided into subsections. It should provide a concise and precise description of the results, their interpretation, as well as the experimental conclusions that can be drawn. Present in textual and/or visual form (illustrations and/or tables) the results of the research.

discussion

Perform a critical analysis of the results of the research based on the studies discussed in the Introduction / theoretical foundation section, as well as other similar works. That is, the results of their research confirm the theory and hypotheses put forward, complement or refute it, etc. Authors should discuss the results and how they can be interpreted from the perspective of previous studies and working hypotheses. The results and their implications should be discussed in the broadest possible context.

final considerations/conclusions

It briefly summarizes the objective of the article and how it was achieved (or not), highlights the main results obtained, suggests future research and comments on the theoretical and methodological limitations of the study. In other words, the conclusion (or final considerations) is the final part of the text, where the conclusions corresponding to the proposed objectives or hypotheses are presented. It is a process of synthesis of the main results, with the author's criticisms and the contributions of the work carried out.

The maximum word limit allowed is approximately 8,500 words per manuscript (including references). Font styles for headings, sections and paragraphs are available in the style gallery of the main template.

  1. Title and abstract:
  • Title and abstract must be presented in at least 2 languages, English and a second language, which can be Spanish or Portuguese.
  • The title should contain a maximum of 18 to 20 separate words, without exceptions, in a clear, concise and direct manner.
  • The abstract should be presented in a single paragraph of approximately 200/250 words maximum. For research articles, abstracts should give a relevant overview of the paper. We strongly encourage authors to use the following style of structured abstracts: (1) Introduction/objective: place the question addressed in a broad context and highlight the purpose of the study; (2) Methods: briefly describe the main methods or treatments applied; (3) Results: summarize the main findings of the article; (4) Conclusions: indicate the main conclusions or interpretations. The abstract should be an objective representation of the article and should not contain results that are not presented and substantiated in the main text, and should not exaggerate the main conclusions.

  1. Information about the article and the authors (to be filled out in the format indicated below):
  • Science-metrix classification: define the corresponding domain of the manuscript following the document below (click to open), the possible domains are: Applied Sciences, Arts & Humanities, Economic & Social Sciences, Health Sciences, Natural Sciences.

  • Originality / Value: indicates in what sense the article is original or what is its added value in the epistemic, theoretical or methodological sense for the field of study. A maximum of 25-30 words is required to describe this segment (required).

7. The journal require a Contributer ID (ORCID) for all authors. ORCID is a persistent unique identifier for researchers and functions similarly to an article’s Digital Object Identifier (DOI). ORCIDs enable accurate attribution and improved discoverability of an author’s published work. The author will need a registered ORCID in order to submit a manuscript or review a proof in Sapienza: International Journal of Interdisciplinary Studies.
