The step-down DC-DC converter (Buck Converter) is a basic power electronics circuit widely used in direct current voltage reduction applications. In this article, it is described the mathematical modeling with block diagrams of a closed-loop step-down DC-DC converter with PID controller. The development of this work required to understand the mathematical equations that represent the open-loop and closed-loop dynamic behavior of the buck DC-DC converter circuit, so that adapting these equations to the corresponding Simulink block diagram representation. The obtained block diagram has been used in (Rueda-Panchano, 2022) to design and evaluate the behavior of the buck converter for different operational parameters.
