Electrical protections in electrical substations: documentary analysis

The substations are designed for a high reliability, but all the systems are exposed to failures, in the different parts of the installation, for this reason the protections are determined for the installations of the substation, in view that the systems are exposed to failures, to precaution the good operation of the equipment that conform the substation and to prevent some risk to the human factor of any failure caused in the system. In order to design a protection system for the substations, the reliability criteria must be met in order to avoid incorrect operations in the faults, as well as the speed at which this protection system will act to clear the fault in the system, and a good sensitivity to detect any fault in the system, as would be the problems of stability in the system, after that implement the respective safety measures, which have to act in microseconds to any fault, since any anomaly in the substation triggers an abnormal condition, which depends on the magnitude and type of fault that occurs in the substation.
