The impact of participatory management on the productivity of a team within a Peruvian public institution

The primary objective of this investigative research was to determine the influence of participatory management on the productivity of the team within a public institution, specifically the Bajo Mayo Territorial Management in the San Martín region, Peru. Methodologically, the study applied a quantitative approach utilizing a non-experimental design at an explanatory level to analyze the variables in their natural context. The study population and sample comprised 150 internal and external workers from the aforementioned entity. Following the administration of questionnaires for data collection, the results regarding participatory management indicated a predominantly "regular" level (41%), followed by "deficient" (33%) and "efficient" (26%); these figures underscore a pressing need for improvement across the critical administrative dimensions of planning, organization, direction, and control. Regarding the dependent variable, the productivity level of the institutional team was found to be "regular" at 45%, "deficient" at 38%, and "efficient" at only 18%, revealing systemic deficiencies in the institution's effectiveness, efficiency, and overall efficacy. Statistically, the linear regression analysis showed that participatory management explains productivity by only 5.29%. Furthermore, a Pearson coefficient of 0.047 was obtained, demonstrating a low incidence between the variables. The study concludes that the productivity of the work team is regular, implying a weak link between current management practices and operational output.
